Currently under construction, this development provides 2 new dwellings for a family in Brightlingsea. Each home is designed to the bespoke specifications of the clients, while integrating sensitively into the rural surroundings. The forms are based upon traditional agricultural buildings, but reenvisioned for modern residential living.

As a significant heritage asset, the refurbishment and extension of this former pub required a sensitive approach. The interior of the dwelling was fully reconfigured, with habitable space added to the loft, and a new single storey rear extension added to the rear. The distinctive Suffolk pink aesthetic was complimented with traditional black cladding, creating an appropriate appearance for the area.

Our client was looking for a unique, contemporary dwelling that would elevate the street scene. We developed both an interior and exterior 3D model with them, to help decide how they would like their new home to look. In the following Full Planning application, we secured approval with the use of 3D visualisations to justify the proposal.

Nestled on the Orwell River, this scheme provides an adaptable space for the café and restaurant it sits adjacent to. Varied seating arrangements are protected by a large retractable canopy structure, and are finished within a landscaped area that breaks the boundary between internal and external areas. Our scope of work was throughout; designing the canopy structure and seating areas, and obtaining Full Planning permission for the build.

This single storey rear extension was modest in scale, but full of character both internally and externally. The completed scheme was a great example of how we offer our clients as much influence on the design as possible. Our client had exciting ideas, and with the help of our 3D modelling software, we were able to develop a sophisticated and elegant space, which also looked great from the outside.

We were approached by an existing client to create a new ice cream store within a Listed Building in Colchester. Our involvement was from initial concept proposals through to planning and building control approval, and marketing material. The interior design respects the attractive Georgian detailing, while offering a good functionality in limited floor space.

In this 2-storey rear extension, our client was looking to create better use of their ground floor layout, while also adding a new luxury master suite on first floor. The existing disjointed kitchen / dining / lounge relationship was elevated to an impressive open plan space, designed specifically for the client’s bespoke needs as a family. This was achieved through multiple layout iterations, which were all conceived alongside the external appearance, ensuring an elegant scheme both inside and out.

Approached to create an open plan space to suit modern living, this project involved adding a substantial rear extension to this dwelling. We worked alongside the client to produce multiple schemes to suit their needs before proceeding to submit to planning. Local and national planning policies were adhered to, but pushed to ensure the space created was large enough to suit the client’s needs. The outcome enhanced the dwelling in providing much needed family space within a limited site.

This development consisted of 2 new dwellings and the extension and refurbishment of an existing dwelling. Within a Conservation Area, and having numerous Listed Buildings nearby, careful detailing was required to ensure the dwellings would stand harmoniously within their setting. Working closely with the planning and conservation officers, we provided a cost-effective yet elegant scheme for our client.

These 2 commercial premises were designed within the iconic Essex & Suffolk Fire Building on Colchester High Street. With the nature of the building, our main objective was to obtain planning consent for the development. This was achieved with a Full Planning application and a Consent to Advertise application. The 2 shops are now successfully operating.

Due to its sensitive location within Dedham Vale Conservation Area, our client came to us following a refusal in planning. By tweaking the proposals and submitting a more comprehensive and attractive planning package, we were able to achieve planning permission for this 2-storey side extension and internal replan. We followed by obtaining Building Control approval, and the extension now sits elegantly in its context.

This scheme consisted of a full internal replan and extensions to the side and front of the property. We developed a material 3D model of the dwelling alongside the client, which helped them achieve their desired aesthetic for the exterior. Variations of wall treatments were compared with different window and fascia designs, and material elevation drawings were presented in the planning process, helping us effectively convey our design intent.

We were approached to produce concept proposals for a revised scheme to this approved new dwelling. The client was looking for greater kerb-appeal, and an elegant design that wouldn’t be affected by trends. The resultant scheme is influenced by classical Georgian architecture, with modern internal arrangements that will function for the family and future occupants.

Our clients here were looking to expand their entertaining space by introducing a pool house and gym adjacent to their newly developed property. The multi-functional building was developed alongside the external landscaping, which provided a unified overall scheme. The extensive glazing on the long elevation allowed social areas to breakout into the garden.

This replacement dwelling has had planning approval and is currently being tendered for construction. The house is far larger than the existing bungalow on the site, and was designed carefully alongside the client and planning officer to ensure that it was not only acceptable with the local authority, but also fulfilled the needs of the family.

Currently at concept stage, these 2 new dwellings have been produced for a developer in Northwich. A number of visuals and design details have been presented for a Pre-App application, which will help justify the striking aesthetic. Presentation is absolutely paramount when conveying schemes to planning – our drawings packages not only look great, but go beyond what is required.
